FAQ

Who can request a video visit?

New and established patients needing a urology appointment. Often it is best to speak to our scheduler by calling 310-423-4700 who can ask you about your symptoms and diagnosis and help determine if a video visit is appropriate. For some patients, a physical examination or special testing is required and we will recommend an in-person visit.

What equipment do I need?

We recommend using MyCSLink, which is an app available for smartphones. MyCSLink will connect via Zoom. However, we have additional platforms for conducting secure, encrypted video communications. All our platforms meet HIPAA requirements.

What if I have a desktop computer or laptop that I want to use?

This is great. We ask that you use Chrome, Safari , Firefox or Microsoft Edge as your browser. Conducting a telemedicine visit on a computer facilitates screen sharing, which is often used by the doctor to show you pictures and illustrations that can help you understand your condition.

Is a telephone call adequate?

Not always. If technology is not available for a video visit we recommend considering an in-person visit. Doctors and nurses have been trained to gather lots of health information during a face-to-face encounter. A video visit already deprives doctors of the sense of touch. A telephone call will deprive them of the sense of sight as well. Also, the video visit is invaluable because the doctor can show you pictures and charts that can be worth a 1000 words.

How much will the service cost?

Video visits are treated just like in-person visits. We will process the charges through your insurance and you will be responsible for your deductibles and copays.

What happens if I need a prescription or testing?

During a video visit, we can electronically prescribe medications for a pharmacy that you choose. If you need blood tests or imaging studies such as a CT or MRI, we can provide you with the orders so you can go to a laboratory or imaging center of your choice.

If I have to come for an in-person visit, is the medical center safe.

Of course, there is no place safer than your home. However, to keep you safe, we've used all the scientific knowledge about the virus and how it spreads. The hospital has never been cleaner and safer. For some health conditions, getting care in-person can be more important than avoiding all social contact.

Do you do video visits for second opinions?

Absolutely. Our physicians are also world-renown researchers at Cedars Sinai Medical Center. Our doctors are fellowship-trained in their subspecialty and their practices are focused on their subspecialty. This means they have tremendous experience within their area of urology. They routinely provide expert advice for patients facing the most challenging urologic problems and get referrals from other urologists.

What conditions do you treat online?

Urology Video Visit specializes in men’s health and urologic conditions that can be safely evaluated and treated through telemedicine. This includes erectile dysfunction (ED), premature ejaculation (PE), benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), urinary tract infections (UTIs), and low testosterone (Low-T).

Each patient undergoes a private telehealth consultation with a U.S.-licensed, board-certified provider, who determines whether telemedicine is appropriate. In some cases, patients may be referred for in-person evaluation if symptoms require physical examination, imaging, or lab testing.

Can I legally get prescriptions for medications like Cialis or Viagra online?

Yes — but only through a licensed provider. In the United States, it is illegal and unsafe to buy prescription medications such as Cialis, Viagra, Levitra, testosterone therapy, finasteride, or tamsulosin without a valid prescription.

At Urology Video Visit, prescriptions are issued only after a telemedicine evaluation by a licensed provider. Medications are then dispensed exclusively by licensed U.S. pharmacies, ensuring safety, authenticity, and compliance with FDA regulations.

How does the telemedicine consultation process work?

Our process is designed to be simple, private, and secure:

  1. Complete a secure online intake form with your health history and symptoms.
  2. Meet with a licensed provider via private video consultation.
  3. Receive a prescription if medically appropriate.
  4. Medication is shipped discreetly to your home from a licensed U.S. pharmacy.

This process complies with HIPAA privacy laws, state telemedicine regulations, and FDA prescription guidelines.

Are generic medications available?

Yes. For most conditions we treat, FDA-approved generics are available, including Generic Tadalafil (Cialis), Sildenafil (Viagra), Vardenafil (Levitra), Finasteride, and Tamsulosin.

Generic medications contain the same active ingredients as their brand-name counterparts and are equally safe and effective when obtained from licensed pharmacies. Our providers can prescribe either brand-name or generic depending on your needs, preferences, and insurance coverage.

How do you protect my privacy?

Your privacy is our top priority. Urology Video Visit operates on a HIPAA-compliant platform, which means all data, consultations, and prescriptions are encrypted and protected under federal law.

We never sell or share your personal health information. Medications are delivered in plain packaging to ensure complete discretion. Patients can feel confident knowing their sensitive health information is secure.

Are telemedicine prescriptions covered by insurance?

Coverage varies depending on your insurance provider. Many patients choose self-pay consultations for speed and privacy. However, some insurance plans may reimburse medication costs if filled at a participating pharmacy.

Our platform provides clear pricing for consultations and prescriptions, with no hidden fees. Patients always know the cost before treatment begins.

What states do you serve?

Telemedicine laws vary by state. Urology Video Visit works only with providers who are licensed in the state where the patient is located at the time of consultation.

You can check our State Telehealth Laws page for detailed information about coverage and eligibility in your state.

What are the risks of ordering ED medications from unverified websites?

The FDA has issued multiple warnings about counterfeit erectile dysfunction medications sold online. These pills often:

  • Contain incorrect or harmful ingredients
  • Have incorrect dosages (too high or too low)
  • Are produced in unsafe conditions without quality control

Buying from unverified sources places patients at risk of serious health complications. Urology Video Visit only dispenses medications from verified, licensed U.S. pharmacies, ensuring authenticity and safety.

Can I choose which medication I am prescribed?

Patients may express preferences (for example, Cialis vs. Viagra), but the final prescription is based on medical evaluation. Providers consider your symptoms, health history, current medications, and possible side effects before making a safe and appropriate recommendation.

Your provider may also recommend trying a generic version first for affordability and availability.

How quickly will I receive my medication?

In most cases, consultations are completed within 24 hours, and prescriptions are transmitted directly to a licensed U.S. pharmacy. Delivery typically occurs within 2–5 business days, depending on location and pharmacy logistics.

All shipments are discreetly packaged with no external labels indicating medication type.

Is ongoing monitoring required?

Yes. For conditions like low testosterone (TRT) or long-term finasteride use, periodic follow-ups and lab testing may be recommended to ensure safety.

Urology Video Visit offers convenient follow-up telehealth visits, so patients can maintain treatment safely without unnecessary in-person visits.

Do you treat women?

No. Our services are focused on men’s health and urology. Many of the medications we prescribe (such as finasteride and testosterone therapy) are not FDA-approved for women and may be harmful if misused.
